The Infant Community

Welcome to the Infant Toddler Community

During the first 3 years of life children develop more rapidly than at any other time. During this time children’s minds are like a sponge and they absorb large amounts of information from the environment through observation and experiences. They also have sensitive periods and tendencies which facilitate construction and initial adaptation to the surrounding world. These are the years that lay the foundation for later learning—and the stronger the foundation, the more the child will be able to build upon it.

“The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn” (Dr. Montessori)

Our Edgware branch Montessori Infant & Toddler program offers a curriculum that emerges from each child’s unique skills and interests. Based on their daily observations, our guides introduce new materials and activities that arouse curiosity and stimulate learning. Learning objectives for your child at this age include developing skills such as language, concentration, problem solving, visual discrimination, and physical coordination.

Our aim is to lay the foundation of your child by nurturing your child’s curiosity and self-confidence to aid life-long learning.  Research has shown that the best predictor of future success is a sense of self-esteem. Montessori programs, based on self-directed, non-competitive activities, help children develop good self images and the confidences to face challenges and change with optimism.

Our Edgware branch is based in the grounds of one of London’s most striking modern churches and is based in the halls on the side of the church. We have been operating in John Keble since 2004 when we opened our doors with just six children.
